CURATION AND EXHIBITION DESIGN
using reflections means that we can play with how we view the work:
the end of year show is an accumulation of our best work we are thus ‘reflecting’ on our time and kingston/in third year, and exhibiting something that best represents us as a designer.
I went to a Lanvin exhibition in Paris wear they used mirrors to aid the viewer see the garments, sometimes the garment was lying flat (this would be an interesting way of exhibiting a poster perhaps) or up right (also could be interesting if a poster was double sides, or the object was 3d) so that we can see 360 degrees around the object or print.
I also like the idea of exhibiting the books/ publications on mirrored shelves this means that when the book is picked up and opened the front cover is visible in the relection etc…
I think it will give the viewers a different experience to usual degree shows.
Also if we put vynil on mirror, there is usually a double effect which could be interesting to explore
-I understand mirors are expensive but i believe we would be able to find ways of getting around this, sonsorship/donations etc
TYPE AND INVITATION/ POSTER DESIGN
below are some images of things i find interesting using reflections
-i really like the screen printed space blankets, i like the idea of an invite being delivered that small and opening up to such a large size
-i like the way the folds act as a natural grid
-i think that type on reflective paper looks really interesting.
-book design-wise, reflective pages to mirror photos from other pages could be intersting: i also think it would be nice to maybe have a brief blurb for each student where we ‘reflect’ on our time at kingston, what we learned, explored …
-i also really like this image i posted below where the reflection is made out of the colours, this could be interesting in web design i think?
